About HUD.EARTH
HUD.EARTH watches the world as it happens. We follow open-source researchers, newsrooms and official monitoring feeds, put every confirmed event on a live map where it is happening, and file a story when an event grows.
How an event gets on the map
A report on its own is not enough. An event appears only when an official monitoring feed (such as the US Geological Survey or NASA's Earth Observatory) reports it, or when at least two independent outlets do and at least one of them is not social media. Posts on social media can make an event rise, but they never confirm one.
How stories are written
Every claim in a story is attributed to the outlet or agency that made it. Claims no one has confirmed are listed separately under "Unconfirmed". When reports disagree, we give each figure with its source. Stories are revised as new reports come in, and each revision is marked.
Mistakes
If we get something wrong, we correct it in the open. See Corrections.
